A Few Resolutions
With the New Year comes magazine articles about ‘Being the best YOU!’ and new gym memberships exploding across the country. I don’t usually make resolutions, I guess I just always wanted to take everything to the next level and just be better, in general. I guess that is the side effect of being a perfectionist, ‘get closer to perfect!’ This year I do have some specific ideas in mind about habits I’d like to tweak, so I thought I’d share them here!
Be more mindful about what I eat and drink- I was honestly going to put ‘Drink Less’ as one of my resolutions, but that made me sound like an alcoholic, which I most definitely am not. I meant drink less alcohol because of all of the mindless calories you consume while doing so. But then I saw another blogger’s resolutions (one of my FAVES, Carrie Bradshaw Lied) and she put it so elegantly to ‘be more mindful’, so I am stealing hers. I want to eat more raw food, eat less processed food, and treat my body better. I also want to carefully consider the calories that would come with that second martini!
Exercise more- Not necessarily to be thinner, but just more healthy. Whenever I don’t exercise for long periods of time I feel so sluggish. I am definitely not going to magically turn into a gym-rat, but making the effort to get up and exercise once a week or more will improve my overall health.
Be More Mindful With Money- I feel like I am finally getting a hang of my finances in the adult world. It’s not been fun, but I believe in tackling difficult things head on. That being said, I need to be more mindful of what I spend my money on. For 2014 I want to save more and try to buy less crap.
Prioritize Travel – Travel has always been a priority of mine, but now that I am a working 9-5 gal, I need to keep making an effort to travel. That goes hand-in-hand with being more mindful of my money.
Give good energy instead of taking on the bad- Being around tense people or situations tends to stress me out. When I am around bad energy it makes me feel whacky. Recently I decided that instead of taking on someone’s negative energy, I’ll try to be extra positive and share some of my good vibes! Be a beacon for love and light at every opportunity!
Practice More Gratitude- An endless quest!!
Those are some things that I am going to work on in 2014!! What are your resolutions? I’d love to hear them!!
