Beauty Must Haves
Lately I have been getting very daring at my local beauty store, Ulta! Living between an Ulta and a Harmon’s Beauty Supply store is a tricky game for the wallet. Luckily, Ulta sends endless coupons to lighten the blow! While you can’t buy ALL of these items at Ulta, here are a few beauty products that I have found I just cannot live without:
Organix Coconut Milk Split End Mender- I have fallen in love with all Organix products, but this Coconut Milk Split Ends mender is particularly wonderful. I have the driest ends, and I truly see a difference in the breakage. When I get out of the shower I run some of this through my wet hair, focusing mostly on the ends, and after I dry my hair it comes out wonderfully soft with minimal breakage. I love it! Purchase at your local drugstore/Ulta or here: http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/organix-split-ends-mender-nourishing-coconut-milk/
Beauty Society Enormous Lash- For a long time I was very curious about Latisse…until I found out that one of the side effects/misuse could lead to discoloration of your Iris….say what now? Not a risk that I am willing to take. Beauty Society is an all natural company that is vegan, paraben and sulfate free. They make a product called “Enormous Lash” that looks like a liquid liner brush but has an oil that you apply to your lashes twice a day. I was gifted the product by a friend and Beauty Society rep, and I must say that I truly see a difference. While it can be hard to tell, my inner lashes closest to my nose are five times longer than they have ever been. The product is pricey but I think it’s worth it. Most lash enhancers are close to this price anyway. You can purchase Enormous Lash through this link: http://www.mybeautysociety.com/Melinda >>then click ‘Makeup’ and ‘Enormous Lash’
MAC Cream Colour Base in Luna- The way that I first got into makeup was dragging my friend Amanda to an event that the cosmetics company MAC was hosting at my local mall. I don’t know if they still do this, but years ago MAC would host a lecture with a senior makeup artist where you would go to watch a makeup application and then have a Q&A. The event was $100 I think….but the piece that sealed the deal was that AFTER the lecture, you would use that $100 entry fee towards makeup. So basically you would spend $100 in makeup, which I was prone to do anyway back then, and get a free lesson from a top tier artist in the company. YES PLEASE! (If you are interested you should ask your local Bloomingdales or high end retail if they ever run programs like that, I used to go to them all the time!) Anyway….back to the product…Cream Colour Base in Luna was used by MAC artists Patrick Eichler as a highlighter. I use it everyday across the top of my cheekbones, as well as in the little divet above my lips to make them look bigger. Sometimes I use it running down the center of my nose to contour, and sometimes I use it under my eyebrows (lightly) to highlight. I basically use it for everything and I can’t live without it. It instantly brightens the face.

Essie Topless & Barefoot- This shade of Essie nail polish was worn by myself and my best friend, the Bride, on her wedding day, and we were both so obsessed with it that we couldn’t stop staring at our manicures. It is THE PERFECT nude nail polish shade. I mostly gravitate towards nude and light pink nail colors (unless it’s around the holidays when I go dramatically red). This shade is very pigmented, which is rare for light colors. I’m obsessed. Purchase at: http://www.essie.com/Colors/Neutrals/topless-barefoot.aspx
Lastly, a super cheap item I must have at all times: EOS lip balm. Preferably in Mint or Lemon. I have these little eggs rolling around my purse 24/7. They are ultra moisturizing, and more fun to use than a chapstick. You can twist it right onto your lips, no more digging your fingernails into a lip balm tin. You can find them just about anywhere but in case you need a link, purchase at: www.target.com/p/eos-organic-lip-balm-sphere-summer-fruit
