Dream Destinations: Exotic Locales

This summer has left me day dreaming for travel to more exotic locales….

Well this summer has not been what it promised to be! Here on the East Coast we have had about ten minutes of sunshine once a week, and it has been such a bummer! Everyday has been rainy, with temperatures fluctuating from the low sixties to high eighties. We are half way through June and I have had only one real pool day, and that my friends, is a shame. Summer has become one of my favorite seasons. I love to feel the sunshine on my skin, and this lack of true summer lately has me dreaming of more exotic locales. I want some hot summer days where the sun lasts from early in the morning until late in the evening. I want dresses and balmy air. Now that I have made it to such popular cities like London and Paris, I am slowly starting to dream up slightly more exotic lands I’d love to travel like…

For amazing pictures of Bali travel visit the blog

…Bali. I first truly learned of Bali in one of my favorite books, Eat Pray Love, where author Elizabeth Gilbert spends three months falling in love and meditating. Bali is an island province in Indonesia. It’s not like a Caribbean island though, it’s much more lush, mountainous, and deeply spiritual. A blogging couple I follow recently went there with their toddler for 4 weeks, and their photos are breath-taking. They stayed in an open-air house that backed up to rice fields. I would love to explore this unique culture and have a travel experience that is more off the beaten path. The Balinese people are said to be some of the nicest in the world.

…India. There are few places in the world I am slightly terrified to go to. India is one of them, but I don’t think that would really stop me given the opportunity. India is about as much extreme culture shock as one can get. Having been to countries in Asia, I feel myself slowly warming up to the idea of taking a plunge into a vastly different culture like India. The extreme sweltering heat, the pungent smells, bright colors, unique cuisine! India would be the adventure of a lifetime.

I mean, who wouldn’t want to see this for themselves?? Ko Phi Phi!

…Thailand. Japan was always my number one Asia destination, and now that I have been there, Thailand has slid right to the top! Thailand is in Southeast Asia, and is home to some of the most amazing beaches and temples in the world. Lord do I LOVE a Buddhist temple. The Thai people are a mostly Buddhist culture, and there are so many Buddhist landmarks I would love to see. Not to mention that the beaches in Thailand, such as those in Ko Phi Phi look stunning. I came very close to going to Chiang Mai in Thailand last year, and I hope the opportunity presents itself again sometime soon!

Petra, Jordan has become a big hotspot for travel bloggers- I want a piece of the pie!

…Jordan. Like India, I feel like going to Petra in Jordan would be another completely out of my comfort zone trip that I would love to go on someday. Once you start reading travel blogs, you will start to see trends popping up of the hot places to go, and Petra is definitely growing as a tourist attraction. I would love to go to Jordan and float in the Dead Sea, cake myself in some of that black mud, and slip through the rose red rocks to get to the famous ancient Treasury.

Greece has been on my list for a lonnnnng time……

…Santorini. Okay, Santorini is definitely the least exotic place on the list, but still exotic enough for me. The water is so blue, the buildings so starkly white. It looks like another world, one of complete paradise. Santorini is high on my list!

I’m sure I will hit some of these exotic locations some day…until then I will be day dreaming….!

What exotic locations have you been craving recently?
