Ferocia’s Top 10 in 2012
This year was full of amazing surprises. For those of you who are loyal Ferocia Fatale readers, you already know that at the very end of 2011 I had no travel plans whatsoever. In a strange cosmic turn of events, 2012 ended up being my biggest travel year yet! I went some new places, revisted some old places, I found beauty in places I never thought I would, and traveled to destinations I had only ever dreamed of.
Here were my top ten favorite moments of 2012 in no particular order:
Marveling at the Grand Canyon- This natural wonder is one of the most breath-taking sights in the world. I am so lucky to have seen it.
Touring Alcatraz- The audio tour of Alcatraz Prison in San Fransisco was one of the coolest walking tours I have ever taken! I was surprised how much I loved it. The San Fransisco Bay is the perfect back drop for this historical- and slightly eerie- trip!
Meeting New York mogul Bethenny Frankel- Bethenny Frankel has been one of my favorite Housewives for quite a while. Meeting her at the Skinnygirl Cocktail party was totally unexpected and awesome.
Shopping in the Haight- Every girl needs a gal-pal getaway once in a while! Visiting San Fransisco for the first time with one of my best friends was a blast, and it doesn’t get any better than two gorgeous ladies shopping for vintage clothes in Haight Ashbury. We loved the Haight so much it’s the only place we visited twice in our short weekend!
Eating traditional tempura in Tokyo- I never, in my wildest dreams (okay, maybe in the wildest-) thought I would go to Tokyo, let alone this year on a total whim. This is an experience I will be grateful for for the rest of my life. On our first night we went to a decades old tempura house, the perfect foreign experience to settle us in!
Watching the sunset in Sedona- I have always wanted to drive through the canyons of the South West, and getting to Sedona at sunset? I couldn’t have timed it better if I tried. Pictures don’t do it justice.
Drinking glacier water in Alberta- This year I finally got to visit my aunt in Canada- and managed to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience rolled into one. Drinking glacier water on our tour of the Athabasca Glacier in the Canadian Rockies will be on all my top moments list for a long time to come.
Seeing Florence & the Machine in Concert- The first time they came to town I missed them and was so bummed! This year I bought tickets the night before the show, and they were spectacular. It all happened so fast, sometimes I still pinch myself!
Saying a prayer in Meiji Jingu- I am not a very religious person, but the thinking about writing prayers and hanging them in Meiji Jingu park in Japan makes me feel a little misty-eyed. Moments like that make life worth living.
