Longwood Gardens

The Lily Installation at the Lilytopia event in Longwood Gardens

I cannot believe it has taken me so long to write about Longwood Gardens! I went for the first time quite some time ago, and somehow my trip never made it to the blog, until now! I felt really inspired to write about it since my post on Duke Farms, because every single park, garden, farm, and conservatory now has to measure up to Longwood Gardens. In fact, when I went to Taiwan we visited the International Flower Expo, and were not really impressed at all since seeing what Longwood Gardens had to offer!

Longwood Gardens is located in the Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania. This is quite a trek from where I live in New Jersey, but as far as Botanical Gardens go, it is well worth the drive.

Tickets to the garden are $11.00 for students, $25.00 for adults, and you get access to horticulture that spans over 1,000 acres. It could take all day to walk through the endless array of flowers and tree, and be sure to bring your camera! Longwood Gardens can turn anyone into a budding amateur photographer! Speaking of professional photography, my friend had her engagement photos set in this beautiful landscape, and they came out stunning!

There are not only amazing displays of flowers at every turn, but also beautiful fountains all over the grounds!

A feature that makes Longwood Gardens an extra special place is the events that they have year-round. During the spring, when I went to the Gardens, they were hosting a spectacular lily show. During the summer, however, you can come at night for a stunning fireworks display, performances, and fountains lit up!

The lily show was mind blowing, and took place in the Conservatory, a major attraction of Longwood. The Conservatory is on 4 acres, and houses countless different kinds of plants and flowers.

The Conservatory is also home to a beautiful array of orchids. Every turn is fragrant and colorful.

These are just a few of the features in Longwood Gardens. There are also paths in the woods, a rose garden, a topiary display that would rival Edward Scissorhands, and an amazing collection of bonsai trees!

Longwood Gardens is an absolute must-see!!
