Capture The Colour

My yellow photo submission, the perfect Aruba sunset! YELLOW!

I recently saw a post on a travel blog I very much enjoy, Adventurous Kate, for bloggers to enter a contest on capturing colours in travel photography! This contest by Travel Supermarket, fortunately for me, but unfortunately for you, dear readers, is only open to bloggers. For this contest, you must post pictures that best capture the colors red, blue, yellow, green, or white. You can enter photos for all of the colors, or as few as you would like.

My WHITE submission

While it may not be the height of exotic locations, I am really proud of my sunset photos from Aruba, so I am going to enter this contest! It’s amazing how different the sun setting can look each day! The yellow sunset photo was on an amazing snorkeling sunset cruise, what the captain of the boat referred to as ‘a perfect September sunset’. The sky burned with the most bright yellow I have ever seen. The white photo was taken a day later, and the sun is in roughly the same spot, but the light looks completely different.

Red Submission from Longshan Temple in Taiwan

For red, I decided to use a photo I took in Taipei Taiwan of the brilliant lanterns that rock several spectacular shades of red! They are breathtaking. I will never forget my first time in Longshan Temple, where all of your senses become engulfed, it is truly a spiritual experience. The bright colors of red and gold lanterns, the incense burning that overwhelms your sense of smell, and the monks chanting prayers. I believe it to be one of the single best experiences of my life.

BLUE submission from the Grand Canyon

My blue submission is actually from the Grand Canyon. One of the many amazing features of the Grand Canyon is the number of colors you can see in the vast crevices. While traditionally it is seen in shades of red, the shadows often look blue, reflecting back the brilliant sky. The Grand Canyon is truly an American treasure.

My GREEN cactus submission!

Lastly, I chose a cactus photo I took in Tuscon Arizona for green. I find it amusing because I never thought Arizona could be so lush. Being from the East Coast, I truly always thought of it as pure desert land, so having a photo from Arizona for green amuses this East coast loving gal!

These are all some of my favorite photos I have taken, I hope you enjoyed them!

These are my photo submissions, and I am thankful that it’s not based on Facebook friends or votes, the winner will be picked by 6 judges! EXCITING!
